The Second Cylon War

A brief history

Forty years after the end of the First Cylon War, the Cylons mounted a massive attack force and planned a pre-emptive strike against the Colonies once again.

Since the end of the First Cylon War, after the brief meeting between Colonial and Cylon representatives at Armistice Station on the one year anniversary of the signing of the Cimtar Armistice Agreement, no sign of the Cylons had been detected.

Unknown to the Colonials, the Cylons had evolved and developed far past their former clunky, mechanical bodies. While there remained Cylon models which were obviously mechanical such as the Centurions and Raiders, they had also developed a humanoid version - one that was indistinguishable from human.

These humanoid models successfully infiltrated the Colonies, most notably Number Six, who seduced Dr. Gaius Baltar and through him - obtained access to the Colonies' defense network.

The Cylons paid their second visit to Armistice Station, and destroyed it.

They then initiated a massive assault on the Colonies, which caught unprepared and, thanks to Cylon infiltration, were undefended. The Cylon plan was effective, and in one day, the Twelve Colonies were destroyed with nuclear bombardment and Cylon occupation of each colony.

The survivors were forced to flee by whatever means available, in military and civilian ships to rendezvous with the only known surviving Battlestar, the Galactica to defend them.
